The Franklin Wine Bar & Bistro is a Bed-Stuy wine bar and bistro founded by childhood friends Alphonse Janvier Jr., Hernandez Rhau, Michael Gittens, and Elliott Bey, rooted in the very block where they were raised. What was once a Black-owned grocery store is now a warm, intimate space designed by the owners themselves to feel like an extended living room for the community.
Their mission is to reinvest in the neighborhood that raised them and create spaces rooted in community, culture, and care. The Franklin Wine Bar & Bistro was built as an extended living room where friends gather over delicious wine and good food in a setting that feels like a speakeasy.
